2021 Tata Tigor EV Ziptron Launch Tomorrow – Price Expectations

Tata Motors is all set to launch the updated Tigor EV with its Ziptron EV technology on 18th August 2021. Ahead of its official unveil, the automaker released a teaser video revealing the model in camouflage avatar. The new 2021 Tata Tigor EV Ziptron is likely to be more affordable than the Nexon EV that costs between Rs 13.99 lakh – Rs 16.85 lakh. Compared to its ICE-powered counterpart, the electric iteration will be around Rs 1.5 lakh – Rs 2 lakh more expensive. The updated model is likely to be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards.

The new Tigor EV Ziptron will come with minor cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with a more refined powertrain. Just so you know, the carmaker recently rolled out the Tigor facelift as Tata Tigor Xpres-T for fleet buyers. The model uses a 21.5kWh battery pack and underpins the old Electra 72V architecture.

Tata Tigor Electric Ziptron Teased

Aimed at private buyers, the new 2021 Tata Tigor EV will be packed with the brand’s Ziptron powertrain technology that also does duty in the Nexon EV. The carmaker says that the Ziptron has been developed especially for Indian climatic and traffic conditions. It consists of a high-voltage 300V+ permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and lithium-ion batteries with liquid cooling system. The range and power figures of the new Tigor EV Ziptron are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it’s likely to offer an electric range of around 250km. At present, the Xpres-T with 72V AC induction-type motor delivers a range of up to 213km and power worth 41bhp with 105Nm. The Tata Nexon EV comes with a 95kW electric motor and a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The subcompact electric SUV promises a range of 312km on a full charge.

Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain comes with fast charging capabilities. The Nexon EV takes 60 minutes to get charged up to 80% via fast charger and 7-8 hours via the regular power socket. The charging times for the upcoming new 2021 Tata Tigor EV are likely to remain unchanged. Some of its key features will include enclosed grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, alloys with electric blue accents, a touchscreen infotainment system, Harman-sourced audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and more.
