2021 MG ZS EV Launching Today: Price Expectation

The popular MG ZS EV will receive its first update in the Indian market today. The company hasn’t reveal any details about the changes; however, MG ZS EV facelift is likely to receive new features and upgraded interior. The SUV could also receive a range extender version.

Price Expectation

The MG ZS EV is currently available in 21 cities in India. With upgraded model, MG Motors would aim to add more cities. The prices of the 2021 ZS EV facelift is expected to be increased marginally. The current model is priced between INR 20.88 lakh and 23.58 lakh. Expect new model to cost around INR 22 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

In terms of styling, the MG ZS EV facelift will largely remain identical to the existing model. The current model is available in two variants – Excite and Exclusive. With new model, MG could introduce a more feature-loaded variant. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), hill start assist, hill descent control, electric parking brake, TPMS, rear camera and others are offered as standard, and will continue with the facelift model.

The 2021 MG ZE EV facelift is expected to receive a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system instead of an 8-inch unit in the current car. It will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system will also receive MG’s upgraded connected car tech – iSmart.

The existing model is equipped with several comfort and convenience features. The new model could get additional features such as auto-dimming IRVM, LED headlamps, ventilated & heated front seats, wireless phone charging and auto AC. These features are missing in the current car. Other features will include LED DRLs, cruise control, auto headlamps. leather upholstery, powered driver seat, panoramic sunroof and others.

The current model is equipped with a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack that powers an electric motor. The electric motor pushes out a maximum power of 143bhp and a peak torque of 353Nm. The electric SUV has been offered with FWD system and a single-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to offer a range of 340km on full charge. The SUV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 8.5 seconds. The battery can be charged up to 80% in 50 minutes via a 50kW DC fast charger and around 6-8 hours via a 7.4kW AC home charger. We believe that the new ZS EV could receive a bigger battery pack, which should offer a range of over 400km on a single charge. The company could introduce new powertrain along with the existing model.
