Morris Garages is ready to update its popular Hector and Hector Plus range next month (i.e. January 2021). While the Hector will receive its first mid-life update, the Hector Plus 7-seater version is slated to hit roads. According to a latest media report, the British carmaker will introduce a new Savvy variant to the 2021 MG Hector Plus 6-seater SUV. It will sit above the existing top-end Sharp variant.
The new 2021 MG Hector Plus Savvy variant will receive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) similar to the Gloster SUV. It includes adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and hands-free auto parking. The new model will also come with the 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system.
The new Savvy variant will come with all equipment offered on the Sharp trim including a 360 degree camera, 7.0-inch display for instrument cluster, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, powered passenger seat, tyre pressure monitor, curtain airbags, heated wing mirrors, auto headlamps and wipers, powered tailgate with hands-free opening and more. At present, the MG Hector Plus is available with four engine-gearbox options. The setup includes a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox; a 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic; and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol paired to a 48V mild-hybrid system with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The carmaker has confirmed that it will launch the MG Hector 7-seater in January, 2021. The model will have a bench type seat in the second row instead of the captain seats. A few cosmetic changes are likely to be made to the 7-seats model. Engine setup and gearbox options will remain unchanged. The 2021 MG Hector facelift will also witness minor updates inside and out. No changes will be made under the hood.
