2021 Mahindra XUV500 Spied In Near-Production Form

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing multiple times with make-shift body panels. However, the SUV has been caught in near production form. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2021.

The new set of images reveal the 2021 Mahindra XUV500’s front design including the grille, headlamps, DRLs and bumper in the production-guise. The spotted model features make-shift lamps, but the headlamp enclosure reveal that the SUV will have the brand’s new family design. The angular headlamp clusters will be fitted with boomerang shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps).

The SUV features bolder and larger seven-slat grille, while the bumper design is subtle in nature. The engineers could add chrome and silver treatment to further enhance the overall styling of the SUV. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 seems significantly longer than its previous model with longer wheelbase. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the new model is likely to offer bigger and spacious cabin for second and third-row occupants. The rear will have fresh design and an all-new styling.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 also gets an all-new cabin with a neat dashboard, wider and bigger touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel and nicely designed front seats.

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the new modular front-wheel-drive platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Ford C-SUV for India. The new XUV500 is likely to be powered by a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is likely to produce around 180bhp of power. Adding to it, the new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar; however, the engine will be tuned for higher power output. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer; while the higher trims will have AWD system.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 13 lakh – Rs 20 lakh. It will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. The company will also launch the next-gen Scorpio in the mid-2021.
