2021 Mahindra XUV500 Diesel 6MT Variant Spied

We informed you earlier that the second generation Mahindra XUV500 launch has been pushed to September 2021. The exact reason behind the delay is yet to be revealed; however, the launch could be postponed due to global shortage of semi-conductor chips. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 has been caught testing numerous times in production avatar.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 was recently snapped in Ooty, and the spotted model is the diesel variant paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The SUV features a large dual screen setup, which comprises of a digital instrument console and the touchscreen infotainment system. The spotted model is equipped with features like automatic air-conditioning system, wireless charging, cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.

However, the diesel manual version misses out on premium features like electronic parking brake and auto dimming IRVM. This variant gets multi-drive modes, which is confirmed by the presence of a rotary drive mode selector placed next to the cupholder.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will offer adjustable headrests for all 3 row seats. The third row of seats will come with 50:50 split function, while the second row will have 60:40 split. There is a lever on the backrest of the front passenger seat, which will enable second row passengers to move the seat forward. The spotted model also has ventilated front seats.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 diesel MT comes equipped with LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The SUV gets disc brakes for all four wheels, shark fin antenna and diamond cut alloys.

The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. It will come with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. While the former is tuned to produce up to 190bhp of power and over 350Nm of torque, the diesel engine is likely to offer around 180bhp of power. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. The SUV will be positioned against the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Safari, and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar.
