2021 Jeep Compass Facelift Makes World Debut – Pictures, Changes

The long-awaited 2021 Jeep Compass facelift has finally been unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. The updated model comes with noticeable design changes and upgraded interior. The new Compass will also arrive in our market in 2021. Similar changes are likely to be offered on the India-spec SUV.

Longer and Taller

Jeep Compass Facelift Specs

The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is 29mm longer and 17mm taller than the previous model. The outgoing car is 4,395mm long, 1,818mm wide and 1,640mm tall. However, the wheelbase of the new model remains the same at 2,636mm.

Design Changes

The updated Compass comes with more bolder and aggressive front fascia. The front is dominated by a bigger seven-slat grille finished in chrome, which is flanked by slimmer and wider headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). The facelift also comes with re-styled front bumper that has newly-styled air-intakes and a silver skid plate at the bottom.

The side profile remains largely identical to the previous model; however, it now has newly styled alloy wheels and squared wheel arches with plastic cladding. At the back, the SUV gets slightly revised tail-lights with new inserts and new bumper. The top-of-the-line Trailhawk version gets all-black grille and dual-tone hood with signature red hooks.

Interior Changes

Majority of the changes are made to the cabin of the Compass SUV. It now comes with completely new dual-tone interior scheme. The SUV gets an all-new three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel and a new 10.25-inch LCD instrument console. There is a large, freestanding 10.1-inch touchscreen with Jeep’s latest Uconnect5 infotainment system dominating the central console. This system is compatible with voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets new front seats and wireless smartphone charging.

Trailhawk Version

The updated model comes with design changes, which includes new blacked-out front grille, and red/black decal on the bonnet with signature tow hooks in the front bumper. This variant also gets completely revised dashboard with leather inserts and double stitching, which further enhance its premium appeal.

The Compass facelift is powered by the 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The high-end variant in China will also be offered with a 1.4-litre engine with 9-speed automatic and a 4-wheel-drive system.

The India-spec model is likely to retain the 1.4L Multi-air petrol and 2.0L MJD-II diesel engine. While the former is good for 160bhp and 250Nm, the oil burner produces 171bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT (Petrol) and 9-speed automatic (Diesel). The company could also introduce the 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine.
