2021 Jeep Compass Facelift – Expected Design Changes

The American carmaker recently revealed the 2021 Jeep Compass for the European market. The 2020 model year gets a new turbo-petrol engine, a dual-clutch gearbox and Jeep’s updated Uconnect 5 Services multimedia center. Save for the new wheel design and new colour schemes (with a black roof combination), the SUV doesn’t receive major cosmetic changes. The Compass’ updated model will make its way to India later this year. While its launch of months away, a latest digital rendering gives us a fair idea what it might look like.

Compared to the pre-facelift, the updated model carries sleeker projector headlamps that resemble to the Grand Cherokee. The front grille has been revised and features a matte black finish instead of the chrome bits. The turn indicators are positioned on the newly-designed front bumper. The radar sensor too is integrated on the lower portion of the bumper. The India-spec version will devoid of it.

The side profile looks similar to the current model. As mentioned above, the new Compass will come with 6 differently designed wheel options. The LED taillamps, rear bumper integrated reflectors and black cladding are carried over from the existing model. The biggest change will come in the form of the FCA’s latest UConnect infotainment system that was unveiled at the last year’s Consumer Electronic Show.

The new infotainment unit comes with multiple screen size going up to a massive 12.3-inch portrait-style setup. It supports Amazon Alexa and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and receives over-the-air updates. Reports suggest that the India-spec version might get 12.3-inch setup along with the newly-designed dashboard.

While the Europe-spec 2021 Jeep Compass will come with a new 1.3L turbo petrol engine, the India-spec model will get a 1.4L turbo motor. The former has been tuned for generating two different power outputs – 130bhp and 150bhp. A 120bhp, 1.6L Multijet II diesel engine with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and a 170bhp, 2.0L turbo engine will also be on offer. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual (130bhp, 1.3L engine only), a 6-speed dual-clutch (150bhp, 1.3L engine only) and a 9-speed automatic (2.0L turbo engine only).
