Jeep Compass 2021 Debuts with New Engine, Interior: No Design Change
The Jeep Compass 2021 comes equipped with a new 1.3L turbo petrol engine offering 130bhp and 150bhp.
The much-awaited Jeep Compass 2021 has finally been unveiled in Europe. The SUV hasn’t received major design changes; however, it gets updated interior and new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is also likely to be offered with the India-spec model, which features the 1.4L turbo unit.
The new 1.3-litre petrol engine offers two states of tunes – 130bhp and 150bhp and a peak torque of 270Nm. While the former gets a six-speed manual gearbox, the 150bhp unit is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. The vehicle also gets an updated version of the 1.6-litre MultiJet II diesel engine with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction). This engine is capable of producing 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
The top-spec model will continue to feature the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. This engine will be paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4×4 traction. In terms of features, the Jeep Compass 2021 gets new Uconnect Services for improved connectivity, new styling cues such as 6 different wheel designs and new colour options.
The company has also introduced the Compass 4xe hybrid version, which uses the same 1.3 turbo engine in combination with an electric unit that moves the rear wheel. This set-up offers 240bhp and is claimed to offer up to 47.6kmpl. The hybrid version also gets a function to monitor the battery charge, set up a charging time and find nearest charging stations.
The SUV is available in 5 paint schemes – Ivory Tri-Coat, Colorado Red, Blue Italia, Blue Shade and Techno Green Metallic – all of which can be offered in combination with a black roof. The SUV comes with an exclusive 19-inch Gloss Black wheels for the Night Eagle model.
The company is claimed to have tuned the steering wheel for light and progressive feel. The Jeep Compass 2021 will be equipped with the Uconnect Services multimedia center, which was introduced in the Renegade in 2020. It features 7 or 8.4 inch screens, which works with services integrated with the application on the cell phone, smartwatch and even the website, with functions such as locking and unlocking the doors. The connected tech also shares the vehicle’s GPS, receiving alerts in real time about traffic or weather and more.
