Skoda had introduced the current generation Octavia in India in 2013, which later received a facelift in 2017. We reported earlier that the Czech automaker the next generation Octavia will be launched in our market within 2020. It was speculated that the next-gen Octavia will make debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show; that didn’t happen. A new media report claims that the 2020 Skoda Octavia will make debut on November 11, 2019.
The next generation Skoda Octavia will be based on the updated version of Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. Thanks to the new platform, the new model will come with larger dimensions compared to the outgoing model. The vehicle will receive Skoda’s new design language, which we have already seen on the new Kamiq and Scala. Talking about the interiors, the 2020 Skoda Octavia gets the new two-spoke steering wheel which is similar to that of the Skoda Vision X concept showcased at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It gets simple and clutter free cabin with a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system dominating the central console and a digital instrument console.
The 2020 Skoda Octavia is likely to come in petrol version only. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option. The sedan will take on the likes of the Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra. Skoda will also launch the Karoq SUV and the updated Kodiaq in India in 2020
