2020 Hyundai i20 – 66% High-Strength Steel, Nails Performance Tests

The third-generation Hyundai i20 is surely one of the biggest car launches of this year. The premium hatchback is ready to hit roads in the first week of November, 2020. However, its official launch date is yet to be announced by the carmaker. Ahead of its official price announcement, the company has released a video explaining the new 2020 Hyundai i20 manufacturing and testing process.

Hyundai says that the new i20 “portrays a Robust Superstructure, Impeccable Appeal, Vibrant Charisma, Dynamic Performance and Paradigm of Quality”. The carmaker has revealed that the new-generation i20 makes use of 66% high-strength steel, which is created using 5,400 tonnes stamping at the press shop. It makes the new model lighter, more robust and safer than the current generation.

In order to make zero crack panels, the company uses an advanced digital gauge to check panel tinning distribution. The 3D scanning of parts further ensures strengthening of press panels. The new i20 paint procedure includes an Anode Cell Current Monitoring system and ‘High-Throw’ Power 7th Generation Electro Deposition Paint’ technology. While the former improves the paint quality application process, the latter ensures long-lasting rust and corrosion protection. The carmaker says that the 2020 Hyundai i20 has nailed extensive engine performance tests performed at its in-house endurance lab. Read – Hyundai Electric Mini SUV To Cost Below Rs 10 Lakh

Hyundai Integrated Digital Inspection System (HIDIS), which has 324 point check, minimizes chances of faults during the assembling process. The carmaker says that the third-generation i20 has undergone an extensive test process of 18 drive tracks in mimicked extreme weather conditions.
