Honda Cars India has commenced accepting pre-bookings for the fifth-generation City sedan. Interested buyers can reserve the model via the company’s online sales platform “Honda from Home”or at any authorized Honda dealership. Currently, over 300 Honda dealerships are functional across the country. Price announcement will be made in mid July, 2020.
The 2020 Honda City will be retailed alongside the fourth-generation model. Production of the new model is already underway at the company’s Greater Noida facility. Prices of the all-new City are expected to start from Rs 11 lakh and go up to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The model lineup will be offered in top-end VX and ZX trims only. It will take on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the recently-launched Hyundai Verna facelift.
Compared to its arch rivals, the 2020 Honda City will be bigger in size. Its overall length, width and height stand at 4549mm, 1748mm and 1489mm respectively. The carmaker says that the sedan’s fifth-generation model sits on a new platform, which is lighter, safer and more rigid than the existing one. The new City will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer vehicle stability assist (VSA) and agile handling assist (AHA) along with the lane watch assist system. Features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Weblink connectivity, Alexa support, Honda Connect telematics system with 32 connected car features, an electric sunroof, a 7.0-inch MID, a hands-free boot feature, an auto dimming IRVM, keyless entry and go, ambient lighting and remote engine start will be reserved for the top-end ZX trim.
There will be a new 1.5L twin-cam petrol and an updated 1.5L diesel engine on offer. While the new gasoline motor makes 121bhp and come with a 6-speed manual and a new CVT automatic gearbox, the oil burner pushes out 100bhp and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
