In response to the burgeoning trend of first-time and small car buyers gravitating towards the compact SUV segment, the forthcoming months are poised to witness an intensified competition with the imminent launch of two revamped subcompact SUVs. Among the contenders are the Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300, both compact SUVs are slated for release in early 2024.
Updated Kia Sonet
The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift, while maintaining the essence of its predecessor, introduces subtle yet impactful changes to both its exterior and interior. Noteworthy exterior enhancements include a newly-designed grille, a revamped headlamp setup, a revised front bumper, and subtly tweaked LED DRLs and fog lamps. The side profile receives a contemporary touch with an updated set of alloy wheels, while the rear of the SUV showcases a slightly revised bumper featuring a dual-tone black and silver finish, complemented by new vertical taillamps interconnected via an illuminating LED light bar.
Stepping inside the new Kia Sonet, the discerning eye will notice a new digital instrument cluster, updated switchgear for HVAC controls, and the addition of an armrest for the rear seat. Upholstery undergoes a transformation with a fresh brown-finished theme. It’s important to note that no alterations are planned for its robust engine setup.
Updated Mahindra XUV300
Currently in its conclusive testing phase, the Mahindra XUV300 facelift promises substantial upgrades to elevate the driving experience. A major highlight is the incorporation of a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox sourced from Aisin. Despite this significant transmission update, the engines remain unchanged, offering the 1.2L turbo petrol, 1.2L DI turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel options.
Distinguishing itself in the segment, the updated XUV300 claims the title of the first subcompact SUV to feature a panoramic sunroof. Additionally, it is expected to embrace Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, accompanied by an array of new features aimed at enhancing safety and convenience. The exterior will witness noticeable changes, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the SUV.
