Mahindra Scorpio N Pik Up – All Key Details We Know So Far

The highly-anticipated Mahindra Scorpio N Pick Up truck, first unveiled on the 15th of August this year in South Africa, has officially entered the testing phase, as evidenced by recent sightings of a camouflaged test mule navigating Indian roads. While the prototype remained discreetly concealed, concealing the majority of its design details, indications suggest that the production-ready version will undergo some cosmetic refinements.

Notably, the test mule deviates from the concept with its use of regular vertically placed halogen bulbs in lieu of the LED taillamps, and the absence of the characteristic kink in the C pillar. Changes in the tailgate and fuel filler cap positioning further distinguish the test mule from its conceptual counterpart.

However, key design elements such as the distinctive all-black front grille, new headlamps featuring LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a prominent bumper, a robust metallic bash plate, roof rack, door cladding, and the double cab design with a load bed are expected to be retained in the production version. Setting it apart from the Scorpio N SUV, the Scorpio N Pick Up truck boasts a longer wheelbase and elevated ground clearance.

The interior is anticipated to align closely with the original concept, offering a Level 1 autonomous driving system with semi-automatic parking, 5G-based connectivity features, a sunroof, and an electronic stability program equipped with a Trailer Sway Mitigation feature. Under the hood, the Mahindra Scorpio N Pick Up will be powered by the Green-II all-aluminum mHawk diesel engine, presenting buyers with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic sourced from Aisin. The model is set to feature four drive modes – Normal, Mud-Rut, Grass-Gravel-Snow, and Sand, complemented by a 4WD system and shift-on-the-fly functionality. There are also speculations about the potential inclusion of a petrol engine in the lineup.

Despite the absence of an official announcement regarding its India launch timeline, industry insiders suggest a prospective arrival in 2025. Once introduced, the Mahindra Scorpio N Pick Up truck is poised to challenge contenders like the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux in the competitive market segment.
