The South Korean carmaker is ready to expand its Indian product portfolio with two new cars in coming months (i.e. by mid 2021). The models which have been lined-up are Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater SUV and Hyundai i20 N Line hot hatchback. Recently, the company released the first design sketches of its upcoming three-row SUV ahead of its global debut on 6th April 2021. Based on the Creta, the Alcazar will sport Hyundai’s Global Design language and come with both 6 and 7-seats configurations. Its 6-seater version will have captain seats in the middle row and 7-seater model will come with bench-type second row seats.
Compared to its younger sibling, the Hyundai Alcazar will be longer (by 30mm) and offer a more spacious cabin with 20mm longer wheelbase. In fact, it will have larger touchscreen infotainment system than the Creta. Features such as a 360 degree camera, auto dimming IRVM, front parking sensors might also be on offer. If reports are to be believed, the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV will be equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Its engine and gearbox combinations will be exactly similar to the Creta 5-seater.
The next Hyundai car to arrive in the market will be the performance-oriented i20 N Line. Its launch date and details are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Inspired by Hyundai’s successful i20 World Rally Championship car, the hot hatchback is likely to come with a new 1.6L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The gasoline motor, that also does duty to its global-spec model, pushes out a peak power of 204bhp and 275Nm of torque.
The Hyundai i20 N Line’s engine has been benefited with the brand’s new CVVD (Continuously Variable Valve Duration) technology, an uprated turbocharger and intercooler and a 350 bar fuel injection system. The hot hatch will have a 6-speed manual gearbox for performing transmission duties. Some of its key features include ‘N Corner Carving Differential’, ‘N Grim Control System’, Pirelli P Zero tyres, “left foot braking calibration and a brake pad wear indicator.
