Renault sub-Duster SUV

We informed you earlier that the French automaker, Renault, is working on an all-new compact SUV, which is expected to make its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle is likely to be positioned under the Duster SUV, and will rival against the likes of Ford EcoSport and other upcoming sub-4 metre SUVs from carmakers. The sub-Duster crossover has been filmed while testing in Germany.

The vehicle caught was heavily camouflaged, revealing very little. The compact crossover is likely to go on sale in emerging markets including India and Brazil, where people opts for affordable SUVs. It is expected that the new crossover will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options- a detuned 1.5-litre K9K diesel and the 1.5-litre petrol unit. A five-speed manual transmission would come as standard, while we could also see a CVT automatic gearbox equipped variant. Interestingly, Nissan is also contemplating a sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian market. To be positioned below the Terrano SUV, the Nissan compact SUV likely to be launched in the early 2016.

The spotted crossover features the radiator grille, which looks inspired from the 2011 R-Space concept and recently introduced Espace. It is speculated to be based on the CMF platform, which also underpins the new Nissan X-Trail.  The vehicle is likely to go on sale in the mid-2015, while India launch could take place by early 2016. Renault India is also aiming to launch the Lodgy MPV and small hatchback (Codenamed XBA) in 2015.
