Mahindra XUV700 Electric (XUV.e8) – Launch Timeline, Details

Mahindra recently revealed five electric SUV concepts at an event in the UK. All EVs will be designed on the brand’s new INGLO modular platform that’s compatible to different powertrain configurations, wheelbase, track dimensions and AWD and RWD systems. The upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs will have a common batter pack design based on two cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic. The company says that its Battery Management System will ensure improved range and most importantly, better safety and longevity.

The upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs will be sold under two new sub-brands – XUV.e and BE. While the former includes Mahindra XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, the latter one has three models – BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. The carmaker has confirmed that the first production-ready XUV.e model will arrive in December 2024 and the first BE electric SUV will hit roads in October 2025. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, revealed that the three of the upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs are in their advanced development stage and two will soon come under execution.

Talking about the Mahindra XUV.e8, the concept is essentially the electric iteration of the company’s flagship XUV700 SUV. It’s silhouette, design language and seating arrangement are exactly similar to its ICE counterpart. Though, the electric version has a closed-off front grille, full-width LED light bars running towards the bumper, bumper mounted headlamps, angular stances and a sharply designed bonnet.

The overall length, width and height of the Mahindra XUV.e8 stands at 4740mm, 1900mm and 1760mm respectively. The electric SUV concept has a wheelbase of 2762mm. Compared to the ICE XUV700, its 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller. It has 7mm longer wheelbase than the XUV700. The company has confirmed that the production-ready XUV.e8 will have the battery pack with range up to 80kWh and AWD system. Its power output will be between 230bhp – 350bhp.
