Maruti Grand Vitara SUV Bookings Open Ahead Of Debut On July 20

Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce its much-awaited compact SUV, codenamed YFG in the country on July 20, 2022. The company has officially announced that the new SUV will be called the Maruti Grand Vitara. MSIL has also started accepting pre-orders for the new premium SUV. Interested buyers can book the new Suzuki Grand Vitara online or at authorised NEXA dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Based On Global-C Platform

The new Maruti Grand Vitara is designed and developed on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the new Brezza, S-Cross and the global Vitara SUV. In fact, the recently unveiled Toyota HyRyder SUV is also based on the same platform. The Grand Vitara and HyRyder are developed by Suzuki with the help of Toyota’s expertise.

New Maruti Suzuki Vitara

The new Maruti Grand Vitara will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun. The new model will be produced at Toyota’s Plant II at Bidadi near Bangalore, Karnataka. The production of the new SUV will commence from August 2022.

Maruti Grand Vitara – What To Expect?

The new SUV is reportedly to be the brand’s global model and is expected to replace the existing Vitara on sale in international markets. The company will export the new SUV to select international markets. In terms of styling, the new Grand Vitara will share styling cues from the HyRyder. However, it will have changes in-line with Maruti Suzuki’s latest models including the Baleno and the new Brezza.

The new Grand Vitara is expected to come with a new dual-tone front, featuring a honeycomb grille and split LED headlamp setup with dual LED DRLs. The front design of the SUV is expected to have similarities with the global-spec Suzuki A-Cross. Similar to the HyRyder, the new Suzuki SUV could get Hybrid badging on the doors and below the ORVMs. It comes with sporty bumpers, 17-inch alloys and slim C-shaped tail-lamps extending on the tailgate.

The cabin layout will also share resemblance with the HyRyder; however, it could have some design similarities with the new Brezza. It will have padded leather dashboard with soft touch material, and leather wrapped steering wheel and seats. The SUV will come with a panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital instrument console. The SUV will also get a 360 degree camera, Head-Up Display or HUD, connected car tech, ventilated front seats and automatic AC.

Maruti Grand Vitara Specs

The new Suzuki Grand Vitara will share the engine options with the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. It will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre K15C dualjet petrol engine with mild hybrid tech and a Toyota’s 1.5-litre TNGA petrol unit with strong hybrid powertrain. The mild hybrid variants will come with manual and automatic gearbox options, while the hybrid unit will come with eCVT gearbox. The mild hybrid unit will also get an AWD (all-wheel-drive) option.
