We informed you earlier that Mahindra is planning to not discontinue the existing the Scorpio on the arrival of new-gen model. The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio is scheduled to be launched in mid-2022. Interestingly, the current model has been spotted testing with minimal camouflage on the front and side profile.
It is believed that the facelifted Scorpio will coexist with the upcoming new generation model. The front fenders, grille and bumper along side lower side profile was covered in a thick cloth. The rear profile is not visible in the spy image; however, the vehicle is likely to get revised bumper as well.
It is expected that the 2022 Scorpio facelift will get a new radiator grille and revised bumper. The vehicle is likely to get new badging as well as new prominent black plastic cladding all-around the body. It is rumoured that the current Scorpio could be launched as a commercial vehicle. The cabin of the Mahindra Scorpio facelift is likely to get some changes; however, details are yet to be revealed. The company could remove some features to reduce pricing. The SUV could be offered in multiple seating options.
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio facelift is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that offers two states of tunes – 120bhp/280Nm and 140bhp/319Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The current generation Scorpio is available in the price bracket of Rs 12.77 lakh to Rs 17.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The next generation Scorpio is expected to be positioned above the existing model.
