All-New Honda Civic Hatchback To Be Revealed In November 2021

Honda had showcased the new generation Civic sedan prototype on November 18, 2020. A new media report claims that the all-new Honda Civic hatchback will be released in November 2021. The company has recently released the new generation Vezel (Aka New Honda HR-V) for Japanese as well as European markets.

The all-new Honda Civic hatchback is reportedly to debut the new generation Honda architecture. This platform was earlier speculated to be introduced with the new HR-V; that didn’t happen. The new model is based on the improved version of the existing architecture. The report further claims that the new Civic hatchback will make its global debut in Japan instead of Europe and North America.

The all-new Honda Civic hatchback will have a rounded rear view, giving it a fastback style rather than a hatchback. The hatch will have sloping roofline, full-width tail-lamps, boxier shape and lip spoiler. The hatchback has already been caught testing multiple times. The spy images suggest that the new Civic hatch will have boxier front look, featuring trapezoidal shaped headlamps and a more pronounced front wheel. It is likely to get a two-tier front grille with a smaller opening on top and a larger air-intake at the bottom. There is a smaller portion of the bumper separating the upper grille and the lower air-intake. The hatch will receive less creases and less prominent lines.

The cabin is likely to receive significant changes. It will have simple dashboard with minimal buttons. This model will offer great ergonomics and visibility. The Civic’s prototype had an all-digital driver’s meter cluster and a new 9-inch full-HD free-standing touchscreen infotainment system.

Honda is also testing the Type-R variant of the new Civic hatchback. It is expected to feature extended fenders, large wheels and wide-open design for fast cooling of the braking system. The Type R is rumoured to feature a hybrid engine for the 2.0 turbo to offer around 400bhp. The regular Civic hatch is likely to receive the 121bhp, 1.0L turbocharged and 173bhp, 1.5 VTEC turbocharged petrol engines with CVT units. It could use the hybrid engine, which is called Honda i-MMD hybrid system.
