We have reported earlier that the new-generation Mahindra Thar will receive two new colour schemes in 2021. In fact, the SUV has been spotted testing a couple of times in new White and Silver paint jobs. According to a fresh report, the carmaker is working on a new turbocharged petrol engine named – 180 mStallion Pro. The new gasoline motor is likely to debut on the 2021 Mahindra Thar. While technical details of the new powertrain are still under the wraps, it’s likely to be more powerful and faster than the Thar’s existing gasoline motor. At present, the compact off-roader comes with 2.0L, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol unit that makes a top power of 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. It’s capable to attain a top speed of 150kmph. The new 180 mStallion Pro engine is said to offer a maximum speed of 180kmph.
Recently, the carmaker has increased prices of the off-road SUV. The 2021 Mahindra Thar model lineup includes 9 variants with Convertible and Hardtop options. Prices of the Thar petrol start from Rs 12.10 lakh for the entry-level AX (O) petrol manual convertible and go up to Rs 13.95 lakh for the LX petrol automatic hardtop variant. The diesel models are available in the price range of Rs 12.30 lakh – Rs 14.05 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
In coming months, the home-grown carmaker will roll out the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio. While the former is reported to arrive in April, the latter one will come by June 2021. Both SUVs will witness significant changes in terms of design and features. In fact, major changes will be under the hood. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio will come with new mStallion petrol and more powerful diesel engines. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
