Skoda Auto India has launched the new Rapid Rider Plus at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Based on the Rapid TSI, the Rider Plus is currently the most affordable mid-sized sedan in India.
The new Rider Plus is available in 4 exterior color options – Candy White, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver and Toffee Brown. The styling of the new Rider Plus is similar to the regular Rapid variants; however, it gets some changes to keep things fresh in the market. Some of the design highlights include blacked Skoda’s signature butterfly grille, decorative side foils, glossy black B-pillar, window chrome garnish and trunk lip garnish.
The Skoda Rapid Rider Plus comes with dual-tone ebony sand interior, with premium ivory slate upholstery. It gets new stainless steel scuff plates with ‘Rapid’ inscription. The sedan gets a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink technology that controls selected applications like navigation. The new Rider Plus variant is equipped with host of comfort and convenience features. Feature list includes climatronic technology with dust and pollen filter, adjustable dual rear AC vents, 12 V power socket, adjustable headrests, etc. For passengers’ safety and security, the sedan gets dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, rear windscreen defogger with timer, fuel supply cut off in a crash and engine immobilizer.
Powering the new Rider Plus is a new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 108bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.97kmpl.
