Over 1.34 Lakh Maruti WagonR, Baleno Recalled Over Fuel Pump Fault

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a voluntary recall for 56,663 units of the WagonR (1L) and 78,222 units of Baleno (petrol) hatchbacks over a possible defect with the fuel pump. The recall exercise affects a total of 134,885 units of both models manufactured between 15th November 2018 and 18th October 2019 (WagonR 1L), and 8th January 2018 and 4th November 2019 (Baleno petrol). Customers also have the option of checking whether their cars are covered under the recall exercise by visiting the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section on the company’s official website for the WagonR and Nexa experience for the Baleno. Owners of suspected vehicles need to submit their vehicle chassis number (MA3 or MBH, followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) to check it their vehicle needs any attention and follow the instructions. One can find the chassis number on the vehicle ID plate or in its invoice or registration documents.

In other news, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is all set to launch the 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol in the country. While its official launch date is yet to be confirmed by the carmaker, it’s reported to hit showrooms on coming 28th July. The crossover’s updated model will be offered in three trim levels – Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The new S-Cross will receive a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine borrowed from the Vitara Brezza facelift.

The new BS6-compliant gasoline engine returns a claimed power of 105bhp against 138Nm of torque. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system will be reserved for the new S-Cross petrol automatic variants.
