Czech automaker, Skoda has already launched 4 cars – the all-new BS6 Rapid, the 2020 Karoq, the Superb facelift and the Octavia RS245 – in India this year. Most Affordable Mid-sized Sedan
The Rapid facelift is available in 5 variants – Rapid, Ambition, Style, Onyx and Monte Carlo – priced between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The sedan is currently the most affordable mid-sized sedan in India. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is available at Rs 8.31 lakh, while the Hyundai Verna and Honda City are priced at Rs 9.31 lakh and 9.91 lakh respectively.
Petrol Only
Volkswagen Group has already ditched the diesel engines for all its cars from Skoda and Volkswagen. The Skoda Rapid facelift is now available in single petrol manual gearbox combination. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 109bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
23% More Fuel Efficient
The Rapid turbo petrol is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.97 kmpl. The company claims that the Rapid sedan is now 23% more fuel efficient than the older 1.6L MPI petrol engine.

Upgraded Interior
The Rapid Style and Monte Carlo editions are equipped with an upgraded 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The sedan also gets green infrared windows to reduce the UV rays. The Onyx variant comes with dual-tone tellur Grey leatherette upholstery, while the Monte Carlo model gets leatherette upholstery with red stitching.
New Rapid Rider Entry-Level Variant
Skoda has introduced the new Rider variant, which replaces the Active variant in the pre-facelift model. The new model is priced very aggressively at Rs 7.49 lakh. It is equipped with decent features including halogen headlamps, automatic AC, a 2-DIN music system, all-4 power windows with one-touch operation, rear defogger, adjustable headrests, powered ORVMs, rear AC vents, etc.
AT Variant Launch in September
The 2020 Skoda Rapid is only available in the petrol manual version. The company has officially announced to launch the automatic version of the Rapid 1.0 TSI in September. It will receive a six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
