BS6 Yamaha YZF R15, FZ Series Engine Details Leaked
Yamaha Motor India has already confirmed that it will start rolling out BS6-compliant models by the next month (November, 2019). The BS6 Yamaha FZ series and YZF R15 will be among the first models from the company’s product lineup to hit the roads. According to the leaked scan, the BS6 Yamaha FZ and FZS will come with the 149cc, single-cylinder engine pushing out power worth 12bhp at 7250rpm. This makes it around 1bhp less powerful than its BS4-complaint form. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed gearbox.
The BS6 Yamaha YZF R15 will use a 155cc engine delivering a peak power output of 18bhp at 10,000rpm. The BS4 version of the same powertrain returns 19bhp. The BS6-compliant motor will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Read – Yamaha EC-05 e-Scooter Coming Soon
The overall design, dimensions and features of the BS6-ready Yamaha bikes will remain unchanged. Though, the Yamaha FZS will receive additional body panels including chrome highlights and under cowl. Features such as LED headlamp, a single-piece, step-up seat and negative LCD instrument console will be carried over from the BS4 model.
With the BS6 upgrade, the Yamaha FZ series and YZF R15 will witness a price hike from 10% to 15%. Currently, the Yamaha FZ and FZS are available at Rs 96,680 and Rs 98,680 respectively and the Yamaha YZF R15 comes with a price tag of Rs 1,42,780. All prices are ex-showroom.
