After introducing the XC40 Recharge, Volvo Cars has unveiled the new C40 Recharge pure electric Coupe SUV in the Indian market. It will be the brand’s second electric vehicle and will be offered in a single top-spec variant in our market. The new Volvo C40 Recharge is scheduled to be launched in our market in August, while deliveries are being promised to begin in September.
The new Volvo C40 Recharge electric will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. It is basically the coupe version of the existing XC40 Recharge on sale in India as well as in global markets. The coupe features the signature body-coloured closed-off front fascia, which is similar to its SUV sibling. It has the same Thor-hammer-inspired LED headlamps, and vertically stacked LED tail-lights
The coupe version looks significantly different from the XC40 Recharge. It rides on a large 19-inch five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. The coupe version is offered in six colour options – Crystal White, Onyx Black, Fusion Red, Cloud Blue, Sage Green and Fjord Blue. The Volvo C40 Recharge comes with an all-black interior scheme and clutter free dashboard layout. The dashboard is dominated by a 9-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system.
The infotainment system is co-developed with Google and has in-built services like Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store. It is fitted with a fully-digital instrument console and the aircon vents are placed in typical portrait style.
The Volvo C40 Recharge comes fitted with a 78kWh battery pack. It features a single all-wheel-drive version and the dual-electric motor. The combined power and torque output stands at 405bhp and 660Nm respectively. It is claimed to offer a driving range of up to 530km on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 27 minutes using a 150kW DC fast charger.
