Volkswagen Virtus – New Honda Rival Unveiling Today

The German automaker is ready to unveil the all-new Volkswagen Virtus mid-size sedan in India today (i.e. 8th March 2022). Here, it will lock horns against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the newly-launched Skoda Slavia. Though, its market launch will happen in the month of May. Similar to the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, the Virtus will underpin the heavily localized MQB-A0 IN platform that meets all the requirements for the Indian market.

Besides sharing architecture, the new Volkswagen sedan will share its engines, features and design elements with the Slavia sedan. That means, it will come with the two turbocharged petrol motors – 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI. While the former makes a top power of 115bhp with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearboxes, the latter is good for 150bhp with the 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
