With the Virtus mid-size sedan, the Volkswagen Group completed its India 2.0 program earlier this year. It can be specced in the Comfortline, Highline, Topline, GT and GT Plus trims. Let’s review what each trim offers and see which would be the best fit for you. But first, have a look at its specifications.
Volkswagen Taigun Specifications
Engine | 1-litre turbo-petrol | 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with Active Cylinder Technology |
No of Cylinders | 3 | 4 |
Max Power | 115PS | 150PS |
Max Torque | 178Nm | 250Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed manual/torque converter automatic | 6-speed manual / 7-speed dual-clutch automatic |
Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 19.20kmpl (MT), 17.23kmpl (AT) | 18.47kmpl (MT), 17.88kmpl (DCT) |
Like the Skoda Kushaq, its cousin rival Volkswagen Taigun also gets two turbocharged petrol engine options and offers similar performance. For enthusiasts and highway drivers, a 1.5-litre engine is the best choice. Other than that, we recommend the 1.0-liter engine.
Dimensions
Length | 4221mm |
Width | 1760mm |
Height | 1612mm |
Wheelbase | 2651mm |
Ground Clearance | 188mm (unladen), 155mm (laden) |
Boot Space | 385 litres (expandable up to 1405 litres with rear seats folded) |
Having the second longest wheelbase in its class after the Nissan Kicks, the Volkswagen Taigun offers a generous amount of knee, head and leg room even for taller passengers. However, due to its narrow cabin size and assertive contouring of the rear seats, seating three at the rear will be a little challenging for adult passengers.
