Volkswagen Taigun Launching Today – Expected Price Range

Volkswagen Taigun will mark entry of the German automaker in the mid-size SUV segment that’s currently dominated by Hyundai Creta. Cars like Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming MG Astor will also take on the new Taigun SUV. Prices of the model will be announced today. It will be the first Volkswagen car to be designed on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Kushaq. The VW Taigun also shares its features and powertrains with the Kushaq.

Variants, Expected Prices

As per dealerships, the SUV could be offered within the price range of Rs 10 lakh – Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Its variant details are yet to be revealed. Though, its range-topping GT variant will come with sportier design elements and a few extra features.

Bookings & Deliveries

Bookings of the VW Taigun were commenced in mid August and within 30 days it has received over 10,000 orders. Its deliveries will begin soon after the price announcement. The automaker aims to sell around 5,000 – 6,000 Taigun per month when production will be on full swing. Engine Options

As mentioned above, the VW Taigun comes with the same engine-gearbox combinations which are offered on the Skoda Kushaq. It includes a 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine delivering 113bhp with 175Nm and 148bhp with 250Nm respectively. While the smaller capacity gasoline unit can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the bigger 1.5L motor is exclusively offered with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Key Features

The Volkswagen Taigun GT automatic variant offers some additional features such as LED headlamps, 17-inch wheels, red brake calipers, auto dimming inside mirrors, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, push button start, paddle shifters, side and curtain airbags and tyre pressure loss indicator. Features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a touch operable panel, wireless charging, electronic stability, reverse parking camera and ABS with EBD are available on the GT manual variant.
