Volkswagen India has further expanded the Polo hatchback and Vento sedan model lineup with the addition of new Turbo variants. While the Volkswagen Polo Turbo Edition has been priced at Rs 6.99 lakh, the Volkswagen Vento Turbo Edition costs Rs 8.69 lakh. The new editions are based on the respective Comfortline trim. Compared to its Highline Plus variant that’s available at Rs 8.34 lakh, the new Volkswagen Polo Turbo Edition is around Rs 1.35 lakh more affordable. In fact, it’s as cheap as the entry-level Nissan Magnite turbo XL that costs Rs 6.99 lakh.
The Volkswagen Vento Turbo Edition is nearly Rs 40,000 less expensive than the Trendline variant, which is priced at Rs 9.09 lakh. The Nissan Magnite Turbo Premium (O) manual and CVT variants have been priced at Rs 8.55 lakh and Rs 9.45 lakh respectively. The Vento Turbo Edtion, which is available with manual gearbox only, is more affordable than the Magnite’s turbo-petrol manual variant. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The Volkswagen Polo and Vento Turbo Editions derive power from a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that’s good enough for 110PS (108.4bhp) and 175Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, the new variants have a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Nissan Magnite turbo-petrol, on the other hand, comes with a 1.0L, 3-cylider unit making 100bhp and 160Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. With automatic gearbox, the engine’s torque output reduces to 152Nm.
A few cosmetic changes have also been made to the new Volkswagen Polo Turbo and Vento Turbo Editions. Both models receive a new glossy black spoiler and wing mirrors, newly-designed alloy wheels and ‘Turbo’ fender badge. The dual-tone Black and Red seat covers are exclusively offered on the Turbo variants. All existing features of their respective Comfortline trim have been carried forward to the new models.
