New-Gen Maruti Swift Debut In July 2022 – New Platform, Hybrid Tech

According to a fresh media report, the fifth-generation Suzuki Swift will make its global debut in July 2022. The model will underpin a newly-developed platform that will help reduce its body weight. It’s likely to be an advanced version of the existing Heartect architecture that’s claimed to be designed with ultra & advanced high strength steels. The all-new Suzuki Swift (2022 Maruti Swift) might also receive hybrid powertrain with a 1.2L petrol engine. However, there is no clarity the hatchback will get a 48V mild hybrid technology or a 12V SHVS mild hybrid system.

Suzuki’s global 12V SHVS mild hybrid technology is reported to be introduced on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki mid-size SUV and the Baleno-based crossover. The former will be placed against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the second half of 2022. Globally, the Swift hatchback is offered with 1.4L turbo petrol engine.

In India, the new 2022 Maruti Swift is likely to come with the 89bhp, 1.2L Dualjet K-series petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Dualjet unit will be be introduced on the Swift facelift that’s ready to hit roads in coming months.

 As of now, details of the new 2022 Maruti Swift are scanty. Though, the hatchback is likely to witness comprehensive changes inside and out. While the original design and dimensions will remain intact, it will get a completely revised front fascia. On the feature front, it might receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, rear AC vents and more.

In other updates, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to launch the new-generation models of the Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV, Celerio and Alto hatchbacks. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will is likely to arrive in coming months, followed by the new Vitara Brezza and Alto. The carmaker has also planned a new mid-size SUV to challenge dominance of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
