In 2021 and 2022, Skoda and Volkswagen introduced the Kushaq and Taigun mid-size SUVs, along with the Slavia and Virtus sedans in India. All four models are based on the MQB A0 IN platform, highly localized for emerging markets, offering adaptability to local climatic conditions and market-specific requirements. Skoda Auto and Volkswagen are now gearing up to provide updates to these models in 2024, although official launch details and timelines are yet to be disclosed.
Information about the facelifts for the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, as well as the updated Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, is currently limited. However, expectations include subtle cosmetic changes and feature upgrades, while engine setups are likely to remain unchanged.
The existing models are equipped with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engines, producing 115bhp with 178Nm and 150bhp with 250Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, while the 6-speed torque converter and 7-speed DSG transmissions are reserved for the 1.0L TSO and 1.5L TSI variants. As of now, the Skoda Kushaq SUV is available in 21 variants, including special editions like Monte Carlo, Matte, and Elegance, across three trims – Active, Ambition, and Style. Prices start from Rs 10.89 lakh, going up to Rs 20 lakh. The Volkswagen Taigun, offered in three trims – Comfortline, Highline, and Topline, is priced between Rs 11.62 lakh and Rs 19.76 lakh.
The Skoda Slavia sedan is currently priced from Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 19.12 lakh, and the Volkswagen Virtus prices fall within the range of Rs 11.48 lakh to Rs 19.29 lakh, all prices being ex-showroom. With the anticipated updates, these models are expected to undergo a modest price hike.
