Tata Motors has officially announced to introduce the production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe in the first quarter of 2024. It is rumoured to be called the Tata Azura or the Tata Frest, as the names have been trademarked. The SUV will be offered with both Electric and ICE powertrains, and former will come first. The company has confirmed that the electric SUV will offer a range of approximately 400km to 500km. It is likely to come with a larger 40kWh battery pack with a front axle mounted electric motor. The new model is expected to cost around Rs 20 lakh – 25 lakh. It will rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the Hyundai Kona EV.

Maruti Suzuki had showcased the EVX electric SUV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The company has announced that the production version of the EV will make its debut before the end of 2024, most probably around festive season 2024. In fact, Suzuki has started testing the new EVX electric SUV on foreign soil. The production version looks largely identical to the concept version. It will be based on the born-EV or skateboard platform, which will be used for the future Maruti Suzuki and Toyota fully electric models. It will come with a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cells and is likely to offer a range of up to 550km on a single charge.

Hyundai plans to introduce multiple new EVs in our market before the end of 2028. The company is producing multiple EVs on existing ICE-powered vehicles. Hyundai is developing an electric version of the Creta that has been spotted testing multiple times on Chennai-Bangalore Expressway. It is expected to source the battery pack and electric motor from the Kona EV. The latter comes fitted with a 100kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that offers 136bhp and 359Nm of torque. The electric motor draws power from a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack and is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 452km.

Kia is reportedly preparing a new MPV and SUV with an electric powertrain. The SUV, codenamed AY, will be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos in terms of size. Kia wilkl invest Rs 2,000 crore for R&D purpose, infrastructure development and manufacturing setup. The company’s Anantpur based manufacturing plant will serve as production hub for the upcoming Kia electric cars.

Honda Elevate EV

Honda has recently introduced the Elevate mid-sized SUV, which is offered in a single petrol engine. The company has not launched the hybrid version of the SUV. Honda has confirmed that the Elevate based electric SUV will be introduced by 2025-26. The platform will be modified to accommodate a battery pack and an electric motor.
