Upcoming Jeep Compact Electric SUV Rendered; Looks Sporty

It is no secret that Jeep is developing a new sub-4 meter SUV, which is expected to be introduced by 2023. The company will also introduce an electric derivative of the sub-compact SUV by 2024-25. The new Jeep compact SUV will also arrive in our market to challenge the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and others.

Digital Artist, Kleber Silva has released new renderings of the upcoming Jeep Compact SUV. The projections shows a rugged mini off-roader with design inspirations from Jeep Wrangler and even from Toyota’s FJ Cruiser. The battery-operated vehicle has Jeep logo positioned above the closed grille.

What’s interesting is that the digital artist has opted for the Comanche nameplate for the new EV. For people not in the know, the company used to sell a life-style pick-up with Comanche name. The battery operated vehicle integrates many of the usual Jeep cues, including the taillights and slotted grille designs.

If reports are to be believed, the new Jeep compact SUV will be based on the Groupe PSA’s CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will also underpin the upcoming Citroen C3 compact SUV in India. It is expected that the regular model will receive the 130bhp, 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine that will also power the Citroen’s C3.

The Jeep compact electric SUV will come as a front-wheel-drive model; however, the company is also likely to introduced all-wheel-drive system on the special variant. It is expected that Jeep could opt at electrification for including AWD functionality in the SUV. This is most likely to be the same set-up, e-all-wheel drive system, which we have already seen on the European-spec Compass and the Renegade. This system replaces the mechanical 4×4 hardware with an e-motor.
