Ultraviolette F77 Electric Bike Bookings From Oct 23; 307km Range

The long-awaited Ultraviolette F77 electric motorcycle will finally go on sale in our market on November 24, 2022. Ahead of the launch, the TVS-backed brand has unveiled the battery pack details of the F77 electric bike. Official bookings for the new motorcycle will commence on October 23, 2022.

The company had showcased the F77 electric motorcycle concept in 2019. The concept had removable battery packs; however, the production-spec model comes with a new battery pack that is fixed, larger and has more lithium-ion cells. The battery pack has 21,700 lithium-ion cells instead of 18,650 cells in the prototype’s battery. The motorcycle comes with 10.5kWh battery pack, which is the largest battery size for any electric two-wheeler in India.

Ultraviolette claims that the F77 will offer 307km of range (Indian Driving Cycle) on a single charge. The prototype with the removable battery pack was claimed to offer a range of over 150km on a single charge. To fix new battery pack, the company has made several changes to motorcycle. The Ultraviolette F77 is based on a completely re-designed chassis. The chassis now has a spine section that joins the headstock to the load-bearing motor mount.

The Bengaluru based start-up claims that the new frame is two times stiffer than the old frame. The battery pack hangs below the frame. The company has used passive air-colling to ensure effective heat management of the battery pack. Ultraviolette has also redesign the swingarm, which is made using a cost-effective casting method. The motorcycle gets USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, and both of which are pre-load adjustable. It will offer 3 ride modes – Eco, Sport and Insane. For braking, it gets a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.

The new Ultraviolette F77 will be manufactured at the brand’s new manufacturing and assembly factory near Electronic City in Bangalore. Spread over 70,000 square feet, the new facility will produce around 15000 electric motorcycles in the first year. The facility will be capable to produce up to 1,20,000 units per year.
