TVS iQube Electric Scooter Gets Cheaper By Rs 11,250

TVS Motor Company has announced the revised prices of the iQube pure electric scooter post new amendments in FAME II scheme. As per amendments in FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles In India), the subsidy available on EVs & hybrids has been increased to Rs 15,000 per kWh from the previous Rs 10,000 per KWh. Adding to it, Government of India has raised the incentive level to 40% of the Vehicle’s cost; it was earlier fixed at 20%.

Thanks to the new FAME II amendments, the on-road price of the TVS iQube has been reduced by Rs 11,250. The electric scooter is currently available in Delhi and Bengaluru. In Delhi, the iQube is now retailed at Rs 1.01 lakh. On the other hand, the scooter costs Rs 1.10 lakh on-road in Bengaluru. Delhi State Gov is also giving additional benefits/subsidies to EVs.

TVS Motor Company has recently announced that the iQube electric scooter will be offered in over 20 cities in India by March 2021. The company has signed an MoU with Convergence Energy Services to improve charging infrastructure. 

Compared to the Bajaj Chetak, the TVS iQube is now around Rs 40,000 cheaper. The Chetak is available in two variants – Urbane and Premium – priced at Rs 1.43 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh respectively. Adding to it, the Ather 450 Plus and 450X are priced at Rs 1,25,490 and Rs 1,44,500 respectively.

The TVS iQube is equipped with a 4.4kW electric motor that enables it to offer a top speed of 78kmph. It accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 4.2 seconds. The scooter is claimed to offer a range of 75km on a single charge. It offers two riding modes – Power and Economy – that allows rider to adjust the power output optimize the range. It can be fully charged in 5 hours using a 5 Ampere socket.
