TVS Motor Company has launched the new Apache RTR 165 RP at Rs 1.45 lakh. This is the first model introduced under the brand’s new Race-Performance sub-brand. The new motorcycle is priced significantly higher than the RTR 160 4V that costs Rs 1.21 lakh. In fact, it cost around 5,000 more than the Apache RTR 200 4V (1.39 lakh)
Powering the TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is a heavily reworked 164.9cc engine. This 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that churns out 19.2bhp of power at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2Nm at 8,750rpm. It is significantly more powerful than the RTR 160 4V, which makes 17.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 14.73Nm at 7,250rpm.
TVS Apache RTR 165 RP comes with “15 percent bigger valves controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams and dual spring actuators for racier engine performance”. The company said that the new engine features “a revised bore stroke ratio of 1.37 that allows free-revving up to the redline” and “a new dome piston for a higher compression ratio.”
The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP comes with a slipper clutch, adjustable brake and clutch levers. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The suspension set-up is shared with the regular RTR 160 4V that is telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. However, the new 165 RP misses out on adjustable suspension that RTR 200 4V offers.
The new TVS Apache RTR 165 RP comes with a unique colour scheme and different seat cover. TVS said that only 200 units of the new models will be produced.
