Toyota Rumion MPV Launching Soon – Re-badged Ertiga

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is riding high on the success of the Innova Hycross, a premium MPV that is currently the top-selling strong hybrid vehicle in the country. The company is set to expand its MPV product lineup with the introduction of the Toyota Rumion, which is essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. For those who are unaware, the Rumion was launched in South Africa in 2021, followed by a trademark application in India.

According to a recent media report, the Rumion is expected to go on sale in India by September 2023, although there is no official confirmation yet.

Toyota Rumion MPV specs

The design and styling of the Toyota Rumion are identical to the Maruti Ertiga. However, it can be differentiated by Toyota’s signature grille and badges, as well as newly designed alloy wheels. There have been minimal changes to its interior as well. The new Toyota MPV features an all-black theme, with a layout and features that are identical to the Ertiga. It will be offered in an 8-seater configuration.

Similar to the Ertiga, the top-end variant of the Rumion will come with four exclusive features: automatic headlamps, cruise control, curtain airbags, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The list of features will also include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system, Suzuki Connect connected features, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an automatic AC unit, a push start/stop button, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, Isofix anchorages, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and more.

Toyota Rumion MPV Interior

No changes will be made to its engine bay. The Toyota Rumion will derive power from the same 1.5L petrol engine that’s good enough for 103bhp and 137Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The Rumion may also offer a CNG version at a later stage. The prices of the new Toyota MPV are expected to be more or less similar to the Ertiga, which is currently available in the price range of Rs 8.64 lakh to Rs 13.08 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
