Toyota Innova Hycross went on sale in India in late 2022 and its deliveries begun in the last week of January 2023. The model has been receiving overwhelming response from buyers and as a result of it the MPV is commanding a waiting period of up to 26 months (i.e. over 2 years!). One must note that the waiting period vary variant, colour and city-wise. The MPV’s petrol variants have a waiting period of up to 6-7 months.
The MPV model lineup is being offered in G, GX, VX Hybrid, ZX Hybrid and ZX Hybrid (O) trims. The G, GX and VX variants are available with both 7 and 8-seats configurations. It’s based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and comes with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle and 2.0L petrol powertrains making 184bhp with an e-Drive transmission and 172bhp with 205Nm, paired to a CVT gearbox respectively. There is no manual gearbox on offer.
The carmaker claims that the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid offers a fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl and the naturally aspirated petrol version promises 16.13kmpl. The Innova Hycross 7-seater version has two captain’s chairs with a segment-first ottoman function for the second row. The 8-seater model offer bench seats for the middle and third rows. There is three-point seat belts for all passengers. On the safety front, the MPV also offers Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS), 6 airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD and electronic stability programe as standard fitments.
The higher trims come with goodies like memory functions for driver’s seat, paddle shifters, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen, dual-tone brown and black interior theme with Dark Chestnut leather seat upholstery (in higher variants) and a powered tailgate.
