The much-awaited new-gen Toyota Innova is scheduled to make global debut in Indonesia on November 21, 2022. The Indonesian-spec model is reportedly to be called the Innova Zenix, while the India-spec model will be named the Toyota Innova Hycross. Toyota Indonesia has released multiple teasers of the new Zenix, revealing the hybrid character, front styling and overall silhouette. A latest teaser confirms the presence of large dual-pane panoramic sunroof in the new Innova MPV.
For the first time, the Innova nameplate will come with a factory-fitted sunroof option. The latest teaser also reveals the side roof-mounted air-con vents and ambient lighting. For rear passengers’ entertainment, the new Innova Hycross will come with front-seat mounted rear monitors – confirmed by the latest teaser.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will come with several high-end features, which are not offered with the existing Crysta. In terms of features, the new model will get power tailgate, LED headlamp & stop lamp, under-floor storage, captain seat with Ottoman function, electronic parking brake and a 360 degree camera. The captain seats come with ottoman function which we have seen in the high-end MPVs including the Toyota Voxy and the Kia Carnival.
The new Innova Hycross will also receive Toyota Safety Sense, which will offer features like Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Automatic High Beam. The new-gen model will be based on a new, monocoque platform with front wheel drive setup instead of the existing ladder-frame chassis & RWD layout. It is the same TNGA-C global platform that underpins the Corolla Cross. It will offer a wheelbase of 2,850mm and is expected to measure around 4.7 meters in length.
The new model will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre NA petrol and a 2.0-litre petrol with a strong hybrid tech. It could get the heavily localized version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System), which has a twin-motor layout that enhance its high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.
