Toyota Innova Hycross Base Petrol & Hybrid For Taxi Operators

Toyota has recently introduced the updated Innova Crysta with diesel engine option in India. This model will be sold alongside the Innova Hycross, which is only available with petrol and hybrid fuel options. It is reported that Toyota will soon introduce a new entry-level or base variant of the Innova Hycross.

The new Toyota Innova Hycross base trim will be offered with hybrid and petrol powertrains. The Innova Crysta diesel and the Innova Hycross will be available to fleet and private buyers. The report claims that the Hycross hybrid for fleet operators will be offered in 3 trims – base, VX and ZX – with 7-and 8-seat options. Adding to it, the petrol version of the MPV will also be available for fleet buyers in both seating layouts.

This strategy is likely to give a competitive edge over Maruti Suzuki, which will also launch its own version of the Innova Hycross in late 2023. Maruti is currently offering the Ertiga in the MPV segment for fleet operators. It will be interesting to see whether Maruti will offer the Innova Hycross based MPV for fleet buyers.

The Toyota Innova Hycross petrol version is priced between Rs 18.30 lakh and Rs 19.20 lakh, while the Hycross hybrid range starts at Rs 24.01 lakh and goes up to Rs 28.97 lakh. In terms of proportions, the new Hycross is 4755mm in length, 1845mm in width and 1785mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2850mm. The new model is 20mm longer and broader than the Innova Crysta. Its height, however, remains the same, but the wheelbase has been extended by 100mm.

The new Innova Hycross is developed on Toyota’s TNGA monocoque chassis with front wheel drive layout. It is offered with two engine options – a 172bhp, 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 186bhp, 2.0-litre petrol with Toyota’s self charging strong hybrid tech.
