Toyota Innova Hycross 1st Official Image Released; Debut In Nov 2022

The much-awaited 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross will make global debut in the Indonesian market in November 2022. Ahead of the global debut, Toyota Indonesia has released an official teaser image of the upcoming Innova Hycross. The teaser reveals the front styling of the new 3-row MPV, which seems inspired from global Toyota models including the Corolla Cross.

The Indonesian-spec model is likely to be called the Toyota Innova Zenix, while the India-spec model is reportedly to be called the Innova Hycross. The Toyota Innova Hycross comes with a prominent front fascia, featuring a larger and upright hexagonal grille inspired by the Corolla Cross. It comes with an all-new headlamp setup with two L-shaped inserts housing the main unit. Strong creases are visible on the bonnet, while the bumper has triangular housings for the fog lamps. The new model is most likely to be positioned as a crossover-MPV.

The previous spy images reveal that the new Innova Hycross will share styling cues from the Avanza MPV on sale in Indonesia. The rear of the MPV has horizontally oriented tail-lamps with LED brake lights and newly styled 10-spoke alloy wheels. The new model will ride on 2,850mm wheelbase and will measure around 4.7 meters in length. The larger wheelbase will help Toyota to create more space inside the cabin. Similar to the existing model, the new Innova Hycross will offer multiple seating options.

The 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross will come equipped with several segment-leading features, which is currently missing in the Crysta. In terms of features, the new MPV gets a 360-degree camera, a factory-fitted electric sunroof, wireless charging, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an ‘ottoman function’ for the captain’s chairs in the second row, wireless connectivity and others.

It is reported that the new Toyota Innova Hycross will come with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). It is Toyota’s ADAS tech with features like automatic emergency brakes, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, dynamic radar cruise control and automatic high beam.

The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be designed on the lighter monocoque platform instead of the ladder-frame architecture. In fact, the RWD (rear-wheel drive) will be replaced with the FWD (front-wheel drive) setup. It will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0L petrol and a 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech. The vehicle could get the heavily localized version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System), which has a twin-motor layout that enhance its high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.
