Toyota Fortuner TRD Limited Edition Launching Soon – Teased

Japanese automaker, Toyota has started testing the new Fortuner facelift on the Indian roads. The updated model is likely to be launched in our market during festive season, before Diwali 2020. Ahead of the debut, the company is planning to launch a new limited edition Fortuner SUV.

The company has officially released a teaser video with a tagline “Gear-Up for the Fortuner Limited Edition.” What’s interesting is that the teaser also confirms that the Limited Edition will be offered on the Fortuner TRD variant. This could be the move to exhaust the stock of the current model before introducing the facelift.

The new limited edition is likely to receive some TRD visual updates and few additional features. With visual upgrades, Toyota hopes to further strengthen its position in the premium SUV segment. The current model misses out on some features that are available in the regular model. It is likely to receive 360 degree camera and auto-folding ORVMs. The company could also add an updated infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The Fortuner TRD Limited Edition will also receive visual changes. It is likely to get TRD lettering on the front grille and on the tailgate. The SUV could also receive subtle design changes in the form of updated and more aggressive bumpers. In terms of mechanics, the Fortuner TRD Limited Edition will remain the same. It will be offered with two BSVI compliant engines – a 2.7-litre NA petrol and a 2.8-litre turbodiesel. While the former is good for 164bhp and 245Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 175bhp of power and 420Nm of torque (450Nm with automatic). Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
