Automakers have released their sales data for the month of September 2022. While Mahindra has recorded its best-ever performance with over 34,000 units sold in a single month, Tata Motors further strengthen its market position with over 47,000 units sold in September 2022. 1. Mahindra Scorpio – 9,536
The Scorpio nameplate has become the best-selling mid-sized SUV in the country. The company is currently selling the Scorpio Classic and the Scorpio N in the country. The combined sales number stands at 9,536 units in September 2022 as against 2,588 units in the same month last year. The SUV has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 268%.

2. Mahindra XUV700 – 6,063
Mahindra has sold 6,063 units in the month of September 2022, which makes it the second best-selling model in the category. The company had sold 1,370 units in the same month last year. It offers a year-on-year sales growth of 343 per cent. The SUV is currently offered with a massive waiting period of around 65-80 weeks.
3. Tata Harrier – 2,993
Tata Motors has sold 2,993 units of the 5-seater Harrier SUV in September 2022 as against 2,821 units in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 6 percent. The SUV is currently available in a single 173bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel engine. Tata is also working on the Harrier facelift, which is likely to receive several segment-leading features.
4. MG Hector – 2,105
MG Motor India has sold 2,105 units of the Hector mid-sized SUV as against 2,722 units in the same month last year. The SUV’s year-on-year sales declined by 23 per cent. MG is also preparing to launch the new gen Hector SUV, which will come with revised styling and significantly revised interior. The SUV could also receive a hybrid powertrain.
5. Tata Safari – 2,030
The 7-seater Safari year-on-year sales increased by 35 per cent in the month of September 2022. The company sold 2,030 units of the Safari in September 2022 as against 1,500 units in the same month last year. Similar to the Harrier, the Tata Safari will also receive a mild-life facelift in 2023.
