The companies have released their sales numbers for January 2022, suggesting a positive trend in the COVID atmosphere. 1. Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has sold 1,54,379 units in January 2022, which includes 1,32,461 domestic sales, 17,937 exports and 3,981 units in OEM sales to Toyota. MSIL said that “The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles which are primarily sold in domestic market. The Company took all possible measures to minimise the impact.”
2. Hyundai Motor Company
Hyundai has recorded a cumulative sales of 53,427 units for the month of January 2022. The company sold 44,022 units in domestic markets and 9,405 units were exported last month. The company said that “Hyundai Motor India is closely monitoring the ongoing semiconductor supply constraint situation and will make all efforts to meet customer demand.”
Hyundai Motor Company has also regained the second position in the list of top selling automakers in the country. However, the gap between Hyundai and Tata Motors is not significant.
3. Tata Motors
In December 2021, Tata Motors posted its highest every monthly sales. The company had delivered 35,300 units in a single month. The trend continues, as the brand has achieved new heights. The homegrown automaker has sold 40,77 units in the month of January 2022. In fact, the company recorded a year-on-year growth of 43%. Tata Motors has also sold 2,892 units of electric vehicles last month.
