Tata Punch is set to mark the brand’s entry into the micro SUV segment in the country. The official prices will be revealed today. We expect the model to cost between Rs 5.5 lakh – Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker has already confirmed that the Punch will come in four variants – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.
All variants source power from a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good enough for 86PS and 113Nm. The motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT transmission. The Punch AMT variants will be exclusively offered with the Traction Pro Mode that will ensure better control on rough roads. The micro SUV will be made available in multiple colour schemes – Daytona Grey, Orcus White, Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist and Meteor Bronze.

One must note that the paint options will vary variant-wise. The top-end Creative will come in all aforementioned colours with black roof option. The Meteor Bronze with White Roof, Calypso Red and Tornado Blue are reserved for the top-end Creative trim. The overall length, width and height of the mini SUV stand at 3840mm, 1800mm and 1635mm respectively. It also offers segment’s best ground clearance of 190mm and a boot space of 366-litres. The Punch has a water wading capacity of 370mm.
Recently, the Tata Punch secured a 5-star safety rating in the Global NACP (New Car Assessment Program). The tested model was packed with the standard safety fitments including dual airbags, Isofix anchorages and anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The company will also offer three packs with the Tata Punch, namely, Rhythm (available on Pure and Adventure variants), Dazzle (available on Accomplished trim) and iRA (offered on Creative trim only). These packages will come at an additional cost. While the Rhythm pack has some extra goodies, the Dazzle pack includes cosmetic enhancements. The iRA pack has Tata’s iRA connected car technology.
