Tata Motors has officially released a picture of its new Tata Punch Kaziranga Edition, which will make official debut during IPL 2022. For people not in the know, Tata Motors is the official sponsor of the this year’s IPL (Indian Premier League). The company has announced that the new Tata Punch Kaziranga Edition will be auctioned during IPL 2022.
The new Punch Kaziranga Edition will be an exclusive model, as only single unit will be produced by the company. The new model is likely to be based on the top-spec ‘Creative’ trim. The new edition is finished in a unique ‘Meteor Bronze’ paint. The vehicle looks largely identical to the regular model.
The regular variants of the Tata Punch comes with rhino badge on the rear windscreen and the inside the glovebox. The Kaziranga is globally known for the Asia’s One-Horned Rhino.
The Tata Punch is available in 4 trim levels – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative – priced between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 8.98 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The micro SUV has receive a 5 star rating in Global NCAP crash test. It received 5 stars for adult protection and four stars for child occupant protection in Global NCAP’s latest #SaferCarsForIndia crash tests.
The Punch Kaziranga Edition will be powered by the same 1.2L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the regular model. This engine is capable of producing 85bhp at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm at 3,300rpm. It is early to comment whether the special edition will come with manual or AMT gearbox option. The AMT version comes with segment-first ‘Traction-Pro Mode’ which improves driving on low traction surfaces. It also gets cruise control and idle start stop system. The Tata Punch also offers two driving modes – Eco and City.
In terms of features, the top-of-the-line Tata Punch gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument console, projector headlamps, automatic headlamps, LED DRLs, climate control, rear wiper & washer, cooled glovebox, cruise control, 16-inch alloys, reverse camera and others.
