The wait is finally over as Tata Motors has officially launched the Tata Punch CNG, the much-anticipated micro SUV with dual-cylinder CNG technology. The Punch CNG is available in four variants: Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, and Accomplished, priced at Rs 7.10 lakh, Rs 7.85 lakh, Rs 8.20 lakh, and Rs 8.85 lakh, respectively.
In this price range, it directly competes with the newly-launched Hyundai Exter CNG, which is priced at Rs 8.24 lakh for the S variant and Rs 8.97 lakh for the SX variant. This marks Tata’s fourth CNG offering, joining the likes of Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz in their CNG lineup.

Under the hood, the Tata Punch CNG is equipped with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine using Tata’s dual-cylinder setup, which was first introduced in the Altroz CNG. The gasoline unit delivers a peak power of 86bhp with 113Nm of torque, while with the CNG kit, it offers a claimed power output of 73.4bhp and 103Nm of torque.
The Punch CNG is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and is powered by two CNG cylinders, each with a capacity of 30-liters, neatly placed under the boot floor, ensuring minimal impact on boot space. Similar to the Altroz CNG, the micro SUV can be started directly in CNG mode, making it convenient for users.
Visually, the Tata Punch CNG is almost identical to its ICE-powered counterpart, with the only notable difference being the ‘i-CNG’ badge on the tailgate. Inside, there are no changes to the interior design. The CNG variant is available in four trims, with the fully-loaded variant offering a 7.0-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, keyless entry and go, driver seat height adjustment, a sunroof, digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, fog lamps, and 15-inch steel wheels.
Additionally, the Adventure Dazzle Pack includes three exclusive features – projector headlamps, LED DRLs (daytime running lights), and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, adding a touch of style and elegance to the micro SUV.
