Indian auto manufacturers, Mahindra and Tata Motors have released their sales report for February 2021. Both automakers are recording positive sales growth in February 2021, registering an impressive double-digit growth. The ride in demand for personal cars and introduction of new cars have helped passenger vehicles in India to record positive growth.
Tata Motors – 119% Growth
Tata Motors sold 27,224 units in February 2021 as against 12,430 units sold in February 2020. The company recorded a year-on-year growth of 119%. The company has also increased their month-on-month sales by 244 units. Tata Motors had delivered 26,980 units in January 2020.
Tata Motors has recently launched the Safari SUV, which is basically the 7-seater version of the Harrier. The company aims to achieve 10% market share in the country. Tata will soon introduce the Hornbill micro SUV, which is rumoured to be called the TIMERO. The new sub-4 meter SUV will be positioned below the Nexon and will rival the Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
Mahindra & Mahindra – 40% Growth
Mahindra has released sales report for both passenger and commerical vehicles. The company’s total sales of UVs increased 44% to 15,380 units in February 2021 as against 10,675 units in February 2020. The PV sales increased by 41 percent in February 2021.
Sales of LCVs in the sub 2 ton, 2 ton and 3.5 ton capacities have decreased in terms of February sales. The sub 2 ton sales dipped by 4%, while the 2 ton capacity LCVs sales down by 46%. The 3.5 ton and above segment sales decreased by 33 percent and 69% respectively.
Mahindra is facing semi-conductor shortage, which is expected to be sorted in the next 2-3 months. The company will launch the next-gen XUV500 and the next-gen Scorpio in the next 6 months. Adding to it, the TUV300 facelift will be re-introduce as the Bolero Neo.
