The Tata Curvv, first showcased as a coupe SUV concept at the previous year’s Auto Expo, is now ready to transform into a production-ready model. Ahead of its official debut, leaked design patents have surfaced online, revealing details of the upcoming vehicle.
Notably, Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Curvv will make its initial debut with an electric powertrain in the first half of 2024, followed by the introduction of its internal combustion engine (ICE) version. The electric variant is positioned to compete with upcoming Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai EVs, while the ICE version will rival models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara in the mid-size SUV segment.
The leaked design patent indicates that the Tata Curvv will share some styling elements with the updated Harrier and Safari, particularly in the front grille and air dam inserts. The vertically placed headlamp clusters, tall front bumper, and wide air dam are borrowed from its sibling models. Noteworthy features include flush door handles (a first for Tata), alloy wheels, a sloping roofline merging towards the rear, and black cladding running across the lower half of the body, consistent with the concept.
Internally, the Curvv SUV is expected to share similarities with the Nexon. It is set to be the first Tata model featuring a Heads-Up Display (HUD) placed behind the steering wheel. The coupe SUV will also incorporate an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, offering features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring system, and more.
Key features include a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a new two-spoke steering wheel, an electric parking brake, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, and more.
Built on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, the Tata Curvv EV is expected to provide a range of over 500km on a full charge. The ICE version will debut Tata’s new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, generating 125PS and 225Nm. Additionally, there will be a diesel variant powered by the Nexon’s 1.5L diesel motor, producing 115bhp and 260Nm.
