Tata Azura Name Trademarked – Production-Ready Curvv SUV?

Tata Motors is making significant strides with a lineup of new products, including electric vehicles (EVs), and has recently trademarked the names Tata Frest and Tata Azura. While there’s been no official confirmation, it’s speculated that one of these nameplates may be assigned to the upcoming Tata Curvv concept-based coupe SUV.

Tata has already confirmed that the electric version of the Curvv will hit the roads in early 2024, followed by its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. Notably, the Curvv concept provides a glimpse of Tata’s new ‘Digital’ design language, which has already influenced design elements in the new Nexon and Nexon.ev, both scheduled for release on September 14, 2023.

The production-ready Tata Curvv, potentially named Tata Azura, is expected to closely follow the concept’s design philosophy. This model is likely to feature squared-off wheel arches, a prominent shoulder line, body cladding, and a sloping roofline integrated into the rear. The interior may retain the three-layer dashboard design with angular elements.

Inside, the Azura SUV could include free-standing dual digital screens (one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster), dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, a floating center console, a center armrest, a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the center, and a rotary gear selector.

The new Tata Azura EV will incorporate the brand’s Ziptron technology, offering an estimated range of around 400-500km. However, specific details regarding the battery specifications, power, and torque figures are currently unavailable. For the ICE version of the Curvv SUV, power will be sourced from a new 1.2L TGDi petrol engine, delivering 125bhp and 225Nm of torque. This gasoline engine complies with Phase II BS6 regulations and is capable of running on E20 fuel (20 percent ethanol blended with petrol). Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected to be offered.
